What is YouTube?

YouTube was founded in February 2005 and has become one of the most popular web portals in the world. Allowing users to submit videos and wade through the massive video section by searching for keywords, YouTube has taken the idea of viral videos to a new level. Unregistered users can watch the videos, while registered users are permitted to upload an unlimited number of videos. Videos that are considered to contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered users over the age of 18. The uploading of videos containing defamation, pornography, copyright violations and material encouraging criminal conduct is prohibited by YouTube’s terms of service. The account profiles of registered users are referred to as “channels”.

Why Should I Use YouTube?

As the premier video hosting and sharing website, YouTube has something for everyone. From comedy spoofs to movie clips to music videos, if it has been on video it is probably on YouTube.

Beyond just watching videos, YouTube can empower your blog by allowing you to upload videos and place them on your blog using the YouTube widget.

Who has founded Youtube?

 YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley,Steve Chen and Jawed Karim ,who were all early employees of PayPal.Hurley studied design at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, while Chen and Karim studied computer science together at the University of Illiois at Urbana Champaign.

3D videos

In a video posted on July 21, 2009, YouTube software engineer Peter Bradshaw announced that YouTube users can now upload 3D videos. The videos can be viewed in several different ways, including the common anaglyph (cyan/red lens) method which utilizes glasses worn by the viewer to achieve the 3D effect.
