From now on harder punishments threaten the users of file-sharing sites, because the tightened copyright becomes effective. People who download music or movies from the Internet need to pay attention to the sources.
Fines up to a figure of 10.000 Euro, jail terms up to three years or claim for damages: These punishments against the users of the Internet who offend against the tightened copyright remain within this span. You are allowed to copy CDs for private purpose further on, but new rules apply especially for downloading movies and music.
The survey of the “Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (GfK)” (Consumer Research Association) shows that 7.5 million Germans use file-sharing sites regularly.
Even if a music archive is opened to the public by chance unconscious, it can be punished.
